V p pgtt all lei 'if The 1960 Governor was the chief project of twenty loyal staff members. This group was as- sisted by dozens of students who contributed their services from time to time. The Editor-in-Chief was Judy Guetz. This one-hundred and sixty-five page, colored- covered book was a September to june task. Scores of pictures, snapped by photographers, Ken Ait- ken and Tom McAuley were scrutinized by staff members, cropped, mounted, laid out, and de- livered to the printers. Numerous pages of copy were written and sent to the publisher accom- panied by the individually designed pages. Selling advertisements was a major undertaking as well as organizing the massive index and design- ing the opening pages. Our customers numbered close to one-thousand four-hundred subscribers. joan Peterson controlled this eight-thousand dollar subscription, financial monster. Publication Agents from each home- room were another important cog in this ma- chinery. The effort was mighty, The product of our labors is now yours. Chief photographer Ken Aitken and assistant Tom Mc- Auley scan a few of the eight-hundred photographs they shot, processed and printed for the 1960 Governor. 0 RI STAF Room 203, fifth period, was the den for journalistic- , minded scribes. The continuous hum of clacking type- writers and discussing voices sounded forth as the 6 twenty-eight staff members met deadlines for twelve l publications. Making page layouts, gathering news, writing stories and headlines, and counting copy were routine procedures for the preparation of each issue. The Old-Time issue, the April Fool's publication and the Senior issue were characteristic of the staff's efforts to appeal to the reading interests of its 1500 subscribers.
