K, Page sixteen -N Q cc 9 57 7 WW :San JQJ Efficient is a one word description of the girls working in Mr. Blume's office. The girls take dictation, type. file, handle all school finances, and do innumerable odd jobs besides. Several also help the Student Council with the selling of war stamps and bonds. The traffic squad is a comparatively new organization at Iohnson. First under Mr. Blume, and now, as a branch of the Student Council, they have man- aged to better conditions throughout the school. They assist in the routine administration of the school, make out tardy slips, prepare and dis- tribute the daily attendance lists, phone the absentees daily, check skipper slips, answer the telephones, give mes- sages, and perform innumerable duties pertaining to the regular functions ot OFFICE FORCE the school. Under the supervision of Miss Smith and Miss Dvorak, they knitted an afghan from yarn salvaged from old athletic socks and gave it to the Iunior Red Cross who will send it to some Army camp. In the spring the girls sponsor the annual grab bag sale of unclaimed articles, the proceeds from which they donate to the Red Cross and other worthy projects. Row A: D. Whyte, A.
