To Mr. DePriest we leave our thanks for his guidance during the past year. III. To the rest of the faculty we leave the memories of our voices forever their own. IV. To the Junior Class we leave our happy Senior days and our best wishes. V. To the Sophomores we leave our hopes of the best of luck in the coming years. VI. To the Freshmen we leave the privilege to call themselves Seniors three years hence. VII. To Mr. Reeves we leave our hope for the best of everything to come his way. VIII. Marie Adcock leaves her letterwriting to Audrey Sue Watts. Marjorie Anderson leaves her ready smile and her good humor to Katherine Adcock. james Capps leaves his way with the girls to john Moore. Imogene Carney leaves her quiet dignity to Jewel Ellis. Patricia Carney leaves her sweet soprano voice to Martha Reding. Aurelia Falls leaves her good grades to Bernice Binkley. Alvin Greer leaves his remarkable farming skill to Kenneth Rottero. Juanita Hicks leaves a part of her boy friends to Jeanne Baxter. johnny Ingram leaves a few of his bright remarks to Carson Spivey. Marie Jones leaves her art of eating in school continually and never getting caught to Gladys Totty. Vallie Mai Krantz leaves her ability to work geometry to Opal Nicholson. Alma Nicholson leaves her trips to town to Barbara Baxter. Ruth Helen Owens leaves her uncontrollable giggles to Louise Garrett. Ethel Reasoner leaves her ability to play guard to Violet Adcock. Geraldine Reeder leaves her excellent basketball playing to Margaret Sue Garrett. Mary Stenberg leaves her sweet disposition, which is really a gift, to Geneva Wingo. Katherine Sterry leaves her ability to make the entire audience yell at a ball game to Bettye Walker. In witness whereof, we have hereunto set our seal at Joelton High School, joelton, Tennessee, this the ninth day of March, in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Fortyffive. SENIOR CLASS OF 1945 Jflillafzq In the fall of 1941, four years ago, we, sixtyffour of us in all, started in the ninth grade. They called us freshmen because we were greenhorns in high school. We overf looked the slurs of the upper students and showed our talent by starring some of our students in our school operetta, Old Kentucky Garden. Under the capable leadership of our class officers, Joe Dunn, President, Willis Hatfield, VicefPresident, and Norma Duke, Secretary and Treasurer, and our Sponsor, Mrs. Warden, we patiently got over the rough steps of our first year. The fall of '42, most of our former classmates came back a little more sure of themf selves than they had been the first year. Johnny Ingram, our class president, and our Sponsor, Mr. Troy Wolfe, brought us through another year of trials and troubles. Nothing very exciting happened this year. It seems as if we began to study instead of having a good time. At last we were sophisticated juniors. Only a few of our members came back. Some journeyed to other schools, others joined Uncle Sam's forces to help free the world of dictatorship. The highlight of this year was the junior play, Look Who's Here. As it is the custom to entertain the seniors each year, we gave them an old fashioned square dance. Marie Jones, our class President, and Mrs. Pauline Tramel, our Sponsor, helped us over the rocky road of this year. We are now dignified seniors working hard for our diplomas. Probably the high' light of this year was the day we had our pictures made for the Hall of Fame, and the senior play, Busy as a Beaver was another important time. Johnny Ingram is again our President and Mrs. Tramel, our Sponsor. At last, we stand on the threshold of graduation with a definite challenge to life. Only seventeen of us are in sight of our beloved goal. May our work not end with graduf ation and may our motto always be: With the ropes of the past, let us ring the bells of the future. KATHERINE STERRY, Historian GZGM With the darkening clouds of war threatening our present lives, we can but hope- fully look over these times of chaos and glance into the crystal ball of future days. So, let's take a peek at what 1955 has in store for the graduating class of '45, Juanita Hicks is now secretary to the governor of Tennessee. We see she made good use of her executive ability. Mary Stenberg isn't hard to find in our crystal ball. She is the now famous Madame Marie, owner of the Belle Dame Shoppe in Paris. Our next glance shows us none other than Alma Nicholson, who is now on a tour around the world. Now, as we look into the crystal ball, who should we see but Alvin Greer, out on that Greer Plantation, where he, his wife, and five boys are making a great success growing tobacco. Hfmfmfm, what is this??? We see that Vallie Mai Krantz and Ruth Helen Owens are still single and living together, having a wonderful time. But they're still hoping, I guess. But, alas, Aurelia Falls is still Aurelia Falls, teacher of Home Economics at her Alma Mater. Marie Jones is no longer Miss jones, but Mrs. Donald Hudson, and has adorable twin girls, the very image of their charming mother. After rough flying, James Capps made a smooth landing right into the major leagues. He's right in there pitching and can certainly say he has accomplished his ambition to be a great baseball player. Pat Carney also seems to have accomplished her desire to become a great singer. She is now the leading soprano with the Metropolitan Opera. It seems that after all, Ethel Reasoner and jerry Reeder couldn't get away from basketball. jerry has received the honor of being the high scorer of the United States, and Ethel is an AllfAmerican guard. Little Katherine Sterry is operating a dancing school in Cuba, teaching the natives to do the Rhumba and Conga. Before our view appears The Florence Nightingale of this Senior Class. It is none other than Nurse Imogene Carney, and her career is bringing her lasting success. We see Johnny Ingram gave up his ambition to be a lawyer because of the great need for doctors. He is now staff doctor at Central State Hospital, Murfreesboro, Tenn. Good luck, johnny. You'll need it. By the way, how are you and your head nurse, the former Marjorie Anderson getting along? Ha, Marie Adcock realized her ambition, and changed her name to Mrs. Lawrence White. When we have seen our dreams and ambitions fulfilled in future years, it will be our pleasure to look back over our high school days, and to realize that it was there we gained our philosophy of life which set us safely on the road to success. GLENN FALLS KATHERINE STERRY DONZETTA SWEENEY BETTY HARRIS JEAN STERRY MARY STENBERG Qiah' Speak Fifteen girls answered Coach Guy Bates call for basketball players and fifteen were happy to receive the prized uniforms when the season opened last fall. Then after a season filled with galore, we find that our lassies are the winners of sixteen league contests and losers of three. In the semifinals of the tournament we drew the topfseeded team of the district and in an overtime playoff, we lost 2826. Violet Adcock led as high scorer with 219 points. jerry Reeder came second with 214 points. The rest scored as follows: Pat Carney 38, Glen Pritchett 30, Marion Adcock 29, Nancy Stanfield 9 points. Boyd' 57104151 Last fall a few experienced players and several freshmen were on hand to try out for the ball team. After a few weeks of practice, the boys on hand had received the red, white, and blue uniforms were happy indeed and ready to give any team a fight. Wheia the boys came on the floor, they did it with a bang, and during the first half they weakened, except in the case of Bellevue and Goodlettsville. The addition of Kenneth Rottero to the ranks not only gave the team more potential force, but gave the morale a boost also. He earned a berth on the allfcity team the week that we won those two games. When tournament time came around, we drew second seeded Antioch, and bowed to the powerful Bears 2846. awmalbim Glad JUANITA HICKS .................. Editor AURELIA FALLS .........
