Katie to her friends, worked in the business office here at Ferris for eight years. Mrs. Mead assumed responsibility for managing the school ' s money and books. Most people saw her only as a lady who collected fees through the window. Some of us had the privilege of seeing the real Katherine Mead — a lady very dedicated to her job. In addition to her work at Ferris, Mrs. Mead has been an active member of her church, serving as Treasurer for her congregation. Retiring just prior to the opening of school last year, Mrs. Mead can now be found gardening and devoting a great deal of time to her grandchildren. Mrs. Mead, we hope your retirement is pleasant, and we wish you the best of luck in years to come. rriRs. kAtheRine mead ITIrs. Opal WetheRell Mrs. Opal Wetherell, a home economics teacher at Ferris for the past six years, has devoted many years of her life to education. She started teaching in 1949 and came to Ferris in 1967, where she has taught Foods. Clothing. Child Development, and Consumer Ed. This year she is retiring to pursue her hobby of gardening and possibly to do some traveling. Her fellow teachers agree that she is very dedicated, treating each student as an individual. Miss Wetherell has been characterized as an easy- going person, and her students would be quick to add that she has been an excellent teacher. Ferris will miss her. 221 no man is an island entipe ; evecy man is pact of the mam.
