The 1971 Exeter staff fondly dedicates this yearbook to Miss Lillian Grace Brown and Mrs Mabel McLaughlin whose services and dedication to Joel E Ferris High School will be long remembered. Mrs. Mabel McLaughlin Mrs. Mabel McLaughlin has been associated with Spokane Public Schools since 1950. She taught English at North Central High School for a number of years and was then made head of the English Department in 1956 She served as chairman of that department until 1963 when Ferris High School opened its doors Mrs McLaughlin was a member of the first teaching staff at Joel E Ferris She has taught English and served as Humanities Coordinator here at Ferris Prior to and shortly after the opening of Ferris Mrs McLaughlin was involved in extensive research regarding the Ferris concept. For the service she gave to the founding of Ferris and for the many years of dedicated teaching, we thank her and we salute her. Miss Lilian Grace Brown Miss Lillian Grace Brown came to Joel E Ferris High School from Wenatchee. when the school opened in 1963 Looking back over her years in education. Miss Brown may well take pride in the achievements of students inspired by her unfailing faith in their abilities. Miss Brown ' s former students can be found pursuing careers in professional theater, moving pictures, education, law, politics, and nearly all other related careers We of Joel E. Ferris High School offer our deep appreciation for Miss Brown ' s tireless efforts expended in our behalf For the hundreds of hours spent producing and directing dramatic productions and for the dedicated classroom teaching contribution by Miss Brown, we thank you, we revere you. we wish you well
