Batton G Gamelin The well-worn phrase, It ' s not if you win or lose, it ' s how you play the game. seems to have been written for the 1968 Ferris football season. Although our team didn ' t win a game, their enthusiasm and desire to win never faltered. So hats off to our gallant boys and here ' s to a new season full of victories and praise. The 1968 Frosh football team brought Ferris its first Freshman city championship. The boys ' energy and determination never deteriorated throughout the season. FROSH FOOTBALL TEAM — ROW 1. Attwood, B. Seim. Directed by Coach Tony Dolphin, the Ferris Cross- country team started the season off by winning the Shadle Park Invitational meet. This set the stage for an undefeated season. The Saxons kept up the pace by placing all seven varsity runners, led by Randy James, in the top ten at the All-City meet. At the State meet in Seattle, our team was paced by State Champion, Randy James, and brought Ferris its first State Championship. Following this the ASB was chosen to take part in the annual leadership conference and discussed the topic Human Relations. Spring semester began as the newly elected ASB officers were installed. President Herb Nelson, assisted by Vice-President Eric Blomquist, Secretary Leslie Ahrens, Treasurer Dan Mohler, and Historian Liz Szombathy started the spring activities with the presentation of the plaque given to Homeroom 436 for contributing the largest amount toward the Good Ship Hope fund drive. Together with Lewis and Clark High School, the ASB presented the annual Inaugural Ball. Scarborough Fair was this year ' s theme. As a Christmas project the League entertained children from the Cerebral Palsy Center and co- sponsored the Christmas dance. The first task of the new semester was planning for a spring Daisy Days Dance. As a service project, the League took May baskets to the patients at Eastern State Hospital. The Mother-Daughter Tea completed the spring activities.
