It does not have nprifviiege on both sides. There are too many today who enjoy privileges but refuse to accept anything that ap- proaches the sense of responsibility. Our responsibility and our privilege education, which starts us in the direction that will determine our future as Free Americans. ,si v Cable af Ljantents Dedication 5'aenlty Seniors ,Ynniers Sepnarnores ?resl1nren Persenalities Athletics ,Aetieitiesa Grade Sense! Grade Seneel A etieities ,Adaertisernents Mr. David Jlflc6lurc Dedzmfmu It has been said that educational relations make the strongest ties. It is from our association with those who in- struct us that we acquire the virtues which build character, patriotism, and individualism. Because you so highly exemplify these virtues, because of your deep understanding of our special problems, and be cause of your warm friendship as a teacher and sponsor, we the Seniors of 1964, dedicate this edition of the WARRIOR to you, MR. DAVID McCLURE. Lynn Copeland, Editor Larry Taylor, Co-Editor difvrs' ,Nate Words seem to be limited to the due amount of appreciation that has gone into this 1964 WARRIOR, Our parts as editors cannot be set in writing just as the true meaning of love cannot be explained. But not in vain do we work, for we shall find our reward as leaders in this task by seeing old memories re-cherished and old faces remembered. John Paul Jones gave his views of life when he said, We have just begun to fight. ' As students, teachers, parents, friends, etc. , we hope you will find here a magnificent view of Jim Ned's finest. We wish to express our appreciation to those who have devoted hours of precious time and especially to Mrs. Holliday, our adviser, who has burned her share of the midnight oil and tolerated our idiosyncrasies. Now may you continue your journey through this new and reviewed world of adventure in your 1964 WARRIOR. l6'mrd of dumfmu Insets: C. C. Allmand, Vice-Presidentg I. D. Blankenship. You should feel, therefore, a personal responsibility in living up to the ideals in which you have thus far been schooled. The traditions planted by you become the permanent and priceless possessions of Jim Ned High School. I trust that you will make the traditions of this school as rich and valuable as is possible for human efforts to make them. Very sincerely yours, ,nn,,n9f Arnett S. Weeks, Ir. Superintendent was-v-an--., rss v-an--4..., s K ixww ----......,.,. C '12 Deat Students: The most priceless possession of our great nation is its young people. Jim Ned is honored to have many of these young adults who ever strive for the best that they are capable of achieving. As each of you leave high school you leave be- hind many pleasant memories, but be assured that the future holds more opportunities for those who are willing to seek and secure them. Nothing worth having is ever obtained by sitting back and expect- ing someone to hand it to you. May you find your places in our society and face them with the same fine spirit of democracy you have shown throughout your school years. Sincerely, William N. Boyd Principals ' M wages Students: Annual time again--means that we are coming close to the end of another school year and that another class of .students is ready to leave the Jim Ned school and start off on another phase of life. I want you to know, as you leave here, that my wishes for your success and happiness follow you. To the students that will still be with us, may you work so that when you are ready to leave here, you may be prepared to succeed at the task you may choose. Sincerely, George T. Bay and Gzrl Kepreseufatiw The MOST REPRESENTATIVE of Jim Ned High School should possess the characteristics which best portray the type of student that the school wishes to acknowledge as its own. The characteristics which should be a part of the most representative are integrity, punctuality, courtesy, friendliness, and resourcefulnessg as well as dignity, intelligence, and a sense of honor. These individuals should manifest democratic ideals, practice sound judgement, and exert an indelible impression of goodliness upon their associates. Since these two students have shown superior character traits, they have been selected the MOST REPRESENTATIVE BOY AND GIRL of Jim Ned High School for 1963-1964. The athlete's responsibilities are to keep in training, play hard but fair, take the advice of his superiors, conduct himself in a gentlemanly manner in order to be a credit to himself, the sport, his school, his family, and his community. The school's responsibilities are to see to it that each and every prospective athlete undergoes a thorough pre-season medical examination, receives proper pre-season and season conditioning, re- ceives instruction in the sport involved, that excellent equipment is provided, and properly con- structed places for competition are made available. The parents of the athlete also have certain obligations. ln particular, they should encourage and see to it that the athlete keeps himself in a superb physical and mental condition. Everyone likes to be a winner, but it is not always possible. If we enter a game with the proper attitude, we may gain just as much from losing as we would from winning. Our won and lost record this past year has not been too fantastic. Yet, we the coaching staff, feel that it has been a very successful year, because of the splendid attitude, enthusiasm and gen- eral sportsmanship shown by all participants and spectators. - We hereby dedicate ourselves in future years to the task of preparing more boys and girls for a brighter future, not only in sports, but in life itself. Officers 66 5? lfnxx l i This school year marked the beginning of the National Beta Club at Jim Ned. The National Beta Club, one of the outstanding high school organiza- tions, is a leadership and service organization for American high school students. Membership is available to those who desire it and can meet its qualifica tions. Each local club bases its induction on three general qualifications: good mentality and character, creditable achievement, and a commendable attitude. Prospective members must also be in keeping with scholastic re- quirements and be approved by the high school directors. Through a program of service projects, the Beta Club strives to stimulate effort, reward achievement, and encourage its members to further their edu- cation. However, not all emphasis is placed on scholarship but also on service as is shown by the Beta Club motto, Ducamus aliis serviendo. Let us lead by serving others. lv -A-It .J he E Us 15 ,a Suzi l Q V- -...., --sig-L fn- ' -fs-a. 'ffg3:f- --4-1' ',f' K fu J: 433- f Lg, Y: W, -4 -S C1 'Z .A .'- -Q- S-,.:. - -11- . gf L : . This school year marked the beginning of the National Beta Club at Jim Ned. The National Beta Club, one of the outstanding high school organiza- tions, is a leadership and service organization for American high school students. , Membership is available to those who desire it and can meet its qualifica, , tions. Each local club bases its induction on three general qualifications: good mentality and character, creditable achievement, and a commendable attitude. Prospective members must also be in keeping with scholastic re- J quirements and be approved by the high school directors. Through a program of service projects, the Beta Club strives to stimulate effort, reward achievement, and encourage its members to further their edu-, cation. However, not all emphasis is placed on scholarship but also on service as is shown by the Beta Club motto, Ducamus aliis serviendo. Let us lead by serving others. 66 1 ,f K I. . wx. 4 vk ,.,.
