May it give you as much pleasure as the presentation of it gives us. When Grade School's last picture is taken, and the prints are retouched and dried, When most have worked on a page or two, Qwell, all of us Seniors have tried!l We shall rest, and faith, we shall need it--- lie down for an hour or two, Till the arrival of our friend the Postman puts us all to work anew. And those who worked hard will be happy: they will sit in a front-row chair, And pass out the shiny new '60 WARRIORS to the friends who are waiting there. B. The Indians opened the 1959 football season with a narrow 8-6 loss to the Wylie Bulldogs. Wylie scored in the third quarter and the Indians had a chance to tie the score when Roland Smith passed to Kenneth Windham for a touchdown, but the try for points failed. Sophomore quarterback, Roland Smith, tossed touchdownpasses to K. Windham and Wilson Little then Ronny and Larry Aldridge added a touchdown each as the Indians downed the Roby Lions 28-6 Senior guards Bobby Pierson and Tommy Gill anchored the Indian defense. The Indians trounced Robert Lee 42-6 as Larry Aldridge scored 18 points in the first quarter Little and Donald McMillon also scored TDs, while defensively Ronny Aldridge, Wilson Little, and David Caldwell stood out. Donald McMillon raced 60 yards for a TD to open scoring in the Trent game. Larry Aldridge scored from the 10 yard line and Smith passed 10 yards to Windham for the final counter. Guard Bobby Pierson grabbed a short punt and headed for paydirt, but was caught from behind by a Trent defender. Clyde of Class A and the Indians battled to ascoreless tie. Both teams made scoring threats, but failed to cross the double stripes. K. Windham had a 44. 5 punting average. Halfback Larry Aldridge again paced the Indians as they ripped Rule 34-20. He accounted for 3 TDS. Tommy Landers romped 55 yards for a TD and the longest run of the game. Roland Smith went 4 yards for another score. Rule was held scoreless the first half mainly on the efforts of Little Caldwell, R. Aldridge, K. Windham, and Bobby Pierson. Unable to muster a defense to stop the Panthers hard-running, All-District-fullback, the Indians saw their lead diminish and escaped defeat by a foot as Gorman's extra point attempt fell short. Smith passed to Wilson Little for two touchdowns and Larry Aldridge scored one touchdown on a run of 14 yards. Roland Smith scored on a kickoff recovering in the end zone. The Indians gained a ZZ-6 Homecoming victory as they topped Rising Star and got their first district win of the season. Roland Smith pitched a Z8 yard TD pass to Jerry Vernon and fullback Donald McMillon scored two touchdowns and four points on extra point attempts to round out the scor- ing. Don Tatum and Bob Pierson were standouts in the Indian line. The Indians blasted defending champion Baird 38-16 as they pushed methodically toward a Dist- rict title. Smith tossed three TD passesg Wilson Little grabbing two and Larry Aldridge another. Aldridge also scored on runs of 75 and 6 yards. Providing defensive strength were Tatum, R. Ald- ridge, Pierson, and Gill. In freezing rain the Tribe held May scoreless and pushed across two touchdowns to take the ,win 14-0 and the Dist. title. Vernon, Tatum and R. McMillon led defensive action. Larry Aldridge tallied the two touchdowns. In the Bi-district playoffs the Indians fell to Bangs Z0 to O in a game played at Coleman.
