Graduation “Be the one you dream you can be, for today is but a dream and tomorrow is only a vision; but today, well- lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and tomorrow a vision of hope.” This was the motto for the graduating class of 1980. The graduation ceremony was opened with the playing of ‘Pomp and Circumstance” by Susan Miller. Tami Jackson read the class prophecy, predicting where we will see the seniors in 25 years, and Marcy Layman read the Class will, bequeathing treasures to the school community. The four graduates included Marcy Layman and her escort, Wes Wood, Pat Potts and Connie Rinkes, escorting each other, and Debbi Wood, escorted by Gary Jacobson. For the first time, the graduation ceremony was held in the new multi-purpose room and was decorated with wildflowers. The gift tables were decorated with the class colors of light blue, dark blue and white. The entertainment for the evening was supplied by the Rodgers’ sisters: Lynn Loomis, Don na Jarrett, and Diane Tiedeman. They accompanied themselves on the guitar and piano as they sang, ‘Circle Game”, a song chosen by the seniors. As surprising as it may seem, the class of ’80 made it through their last appearance as a class and are on their way out into the real world. 1-Pat Potts and Connie Rinkes escort each other down the last walk to graduation. 2-Tami Jackson reads the class prophecy, predicting the future for the graduates. 3-Debbi Wood, escorted by Gary Jacobson, walks up the aisle to graduate with the class of 1980. 4-Escorted by Wes Wood, Marcy Layman makes her way to the platform to become an “alumni.” 5-The graduating class of 1980 is presented to the assembly. 6 Graduation
