The team consisted of Dean Foster, Don Irvine, Jim Hunter, Ward Vandehey, Tim Crawford, Andy Baumel, Todd Johnson, Allen Hecker, Dante” Hill, and Daren Berg. Because there were no seniors on the team and a lot of the team were freshmen, the season was a learning experience for a large part of them. There were only two injuries; James Reeher and Jim Hunter. Jim was out only temporarily with a sprained ankle, but James was out for the remainder of the season with a torn muscle. Throughout the season the team was troubled with the number in its ranks which resulted in a day to day restructuring of the baseball schedule and player roster. 1-Part of the team waiting to get their picture taken. Mini-Courses This year was the second consecutive year for the implementation of the mini-course program. Instead of taking full days for the mini-courses, as was done last year, the mini- courses were held along with regular classes. Students participated in mini-courses in the afternoons after attending regular classes in the mornings. A variety of classes was offered again this year, including recording media, pottery, chorus, cooking for non-home ec., auto shop for non-auto, rally, golf, tennis, photography, and badminton and archery. The actual mini-courses were held the afternoons of the 21st and 22nd of May. In conjunction with these courses, the students and faculty participated in an afternoon swim at Sports Acres the following Friday. 32 Mini-Courses 1-Ward Vandehey puts a little spice in everybody’s life with the non-home ec. cooking project. 2-Mini-class photography students pose for the camera in the largest Maple tree in the United States.
