Boys’ Basketball By nothing but coincidence the number of people on this year’s boy’s varsity basketball team per class fell chronologically into order. The team consisted of one senior: Pat Potts, two juniors: Dean Foster and Ward Vandehey, three sophomores: Tim Crawford, Doug Rodgers, and Neil Vandehey, and four freshmen: Paul Vandehey, Allen Hecker, James Reeher, and Daren Berg. Also joining the team at the end of the season was sophomore Andy Baumel. The team put forth all of their effort throughout the whole season. Although they did not have a large number of victories, they did have a very important one against Valsetz. This was the first Varsity victory over Valstez for many years; an encouraging way to close the season and to end Homecoming Week. The team voted Dean Foster Mr. Hustle and Defensive Player of the Year. Ward Vandehey and Daren Berg were voted co-Most Improved. Pat Potts was voted Most Inspirational and James Reeher was voted Most Valuable Player and was named to 2nd team all league in the 1-Tip it to a Bluejay, Jump Pat!” Pat Potts tips the ball, CASCO league. hopefully to teammate Dean Foster ( 21 white). 2-The Bluejay Basketball team from left to right Tim Crawford, Doug Rodgers, Daren Berg, Todd Johnson, Paul Vandehey, Pat Potts, James Reeher, Allen Hecker, Ward Vandehey, Neil Vandehey, and Dean Foster. 24 Boys’ Basketball
