Slave Sale Above- Joan Layman telling the upperclassmen what sexy legs she has. Above- Todd Johnson let’s his feminine side show through. The freshmen class of 1979 were auctioned off as slaves on September 14th. The prices the slaves sold for ranged from $1.00 to $60.00. Among the highest priced slaves were Daren Berg, who sold for $9.00; Allen Hecker, $14.00; and Lynda Adamson, the highest priced slave, selling for $60.00. There were 12 slaves sold in all. Each of the slaves put up a struggle, but had to face the entire student body with their faces painted black with burnt cork. Some of the tasks the slaves completed while being auctioned off included, pushing pennies, showing their legs, singing songs, and telling the upper classmen how much they love them. The slave sale raised $119.50 for the sophomore class, and officially welcomed the freshmen into Jewell High School. Above- Lynda Adamson unwillingly tells the upper classmen how much she loves them.
