Jimmy graduated in 1970, and Carl in 1973. When I am dead Cry for me a little think of me sometimes, But not too much It is not good for you, or you r husband, or your wife, or your children To allow your thoughts to dwell Too long on the dead Think of me now and again As I was in life At some moment which it is pleasant to recall But not for long Leave me in peace As I shall leave you, too, in peace, while you live Let your thoughts be with the living. YOF You have been given the opportunity to take your place among the tiny minority of the world’s educated men. History will judge you, and you will ultimately judge yourself, on the extent to which you have used your gifts to lighten and enrich the lives of your fellow men. — Robert F. Kennedy School Life ‘ € ose New faces, new teachers, new fears, are all part of a freshman’s first days at Jewell. Gradually fear and loneliness develop into Joy and happiness, to make a freshman year the beginning of amemory to cherish. A sophomore year is similar to a flower’s springtime. During this year the sophomore, like a flower bud, 1s exposed to new sensations- blossoming friendships, car washes, dating, and last, but not least, the High School Prom. Running along a beach, looking forward, never back, the juniors plan for future days. Like a wave in motion, they will break into their senior year. Leaves mature and fall off the tree and seniors leave their secure home at Jewell. The common bond which united us here will remain with us always. To remember, to remember, to remember..... Student Body STUDENT BODY OFFICERS: Public Relations, Judy Morgan; Secretary, Denise Olstedt; President, Lois Borders; Sergeant-at-Arms, Jim Ingle; Treasurer, Sharon Morgan; Vice President, Susan Rinkes. President: Lois Borders This year the Student Body tried working a Student Council, but after a time, it was decided that the Council wasn't accomplishing the regular tasks of the Student Body, and so it was disbanded. Some of the many projects the Student Body put on were the Fall Rummage Sale, the Christmas Dance, a Homecoming Dance, a Spring-Time Raffle, and a Spring Carnival. Many of us learned a lot from these projects, and found fun in working together. New Shop and Science Building 10 Halloween Halloween is here and the witches are about.......cc..ccccccescccecs ae This year a lively spirit from the past came back to haunt the school looking for the traditional Halloween goodies and for Hansel, her favorite little boy. However, all she found were ...some weird looks, a few screams and a NEW Hansel! ... And the goblins’ 11 getcha ifn' ya don't watch out! ! 11 12 Thanksgiving This year proved to be somewhat of an experience for the girls in Home Ec. In keeping with the spirit of Thanksgiving the girls created their own feast. Cooking all the food themselves, and in- viting some of their family and the teaching staff, the Thanksgiving Dinner was a complete success. Carolers, 6th grade through 12th grade enliven the Christmas spirit. Various different awards were given ranging from The will eat anything award, to Most Valuable Players, Drivers Ed. certifi- cates were given and the 8th grade graduation was also that night. The guest of the night was Frank Buckiewitz, Athletic Director and Football Coach of Pacific University. 20 Lenny Reierson, Susie Rinkes, Lois Borders, Sharon Morgan, Lynne Rodgers, Max Norman, Denise Olstedt, Mr. James, and not pictured, Judy Morgan Math Club Lettermen s Club Hal Williams, Brad Beckman, David Samuelson, Mark Smith, Keith Borders, Lenny Reierson, Toby Norman, Jim Ingle, Max Norman, Bob Hanthorn, Mike Beckman, Mr. Sherrill.
