DEDICATION T 116890 It is with great pride that the Jewell High School Student Body dedicates this annual to the Nehalem Valley Community Club. We feel they are unique, as we know of no other school district where the ladies of the community sponsor the banquet and prom. The student body is so small, that it would be impossible for the students to sponsor anything in comparison. The ladies began sponsoring this yearly affair in 1952. Each year they feature a different theme and the decorations are always beautiful. They spend many hours and a lot of money to make the prom and banquet a big success. In 1964 the Community Club began sponsoring the annual Jewell Boat Races. People from many other communities as well as the student body and members of this community, enjoy the event. Each year the Community Club buys Christmas treats for all students enrolled at Jewell as well as all pre-school children who attend the Christmas program. The annual Bazaar, featuring a program, games and food, is sponsored by the Community Club. These are only a few of the many things the Community Club does for the school and the district. Tonight's big story is a reunion at Jewell High School of the Class of 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, and 1974. It took some of them a little longer than others, I attended the meeting and interviewed the class members. Jim Samuelson, better known as ''Canada Coward has just returned from an illustrious career in Canada, playing baseball for the Montreal Expos. Jim first moved north when things got a little draftee in Oregon. In Montreal, Jim charmed the fans with his spectacular catches on routine fly balls. He repeatedly displayed such great form in right field that jobs were offered to him by three world famous ballet companies. Since he is too old for baseball and the draft, Jim has returned to the U. S. to his other sparkling career at Oney's restaurant making the dishes sparkle with Joy, Lemon fresh Joy. Jim also remarked that he is happy with over 50% of his wives. Barbara Hanthorn does a lot of traveling in her work, ten miles a day to the Huckleberry Inn at Elsie, still owned by Moyd Logan, and back. She is now a full fledged waitress and can be seen daily practising ballet from table top to table top. It's surprising how someone who weights 230 pounds can be so graceful. The biggest success of all, though, is Candi Foster. She has really gone into the big times. Two days after marrying Steve Olstedt she went off her diet and exploded. Candi is now supporting the family by wrestling, after being the first one to demask the Claw. It all started with Steve seeing more of the Claw than her. She is now a regular in the Portland Armory, teaming up frequently with the Von Stiegers, Donna Rodgers has become famous for her invention of a new building material. It is harder than diamond and does not require plaster to hold it together. It will stick to anything, all by itself. It does not need to be patented because no one has ever been able to copy Donna's recipe, which she discovered back in her high school home economics class, Everyone is still trying to figure out how she makes her taffy. What Donna hasn't been able to sell she feeds to her children, when she's able to get it off the plate. The stuff will really stick to your ribs, and anything else that should happen to get in the way. Ingenius ''Slickspot'' Alverdes has invented a new sport, automobile racing onice. Billisa master of the race track in his fourspeed Datson with 43 cubic inches, His wife, Joanne, is well known for her victories on her 1 speed horse with 47 cubic inches, especially against Bill's four speed Datson with 43 cubic inches. Victor Jarrett has turned into a great salesman. He gets them one way or the other. He has just returned from Mars where he was trying to sell some of his dodo Photos to the first astronauts, Somehow, he beat the astronauts there so he could get a good picture of them landing. Due to cir- cumstances beyond his control, the Dodo neglected to put film in the camera. Victor's photography, however, is merely a summer past-time. In the fall he has to go back to school, He is still taking English, Well, that's the way it is, Friday, April 31, 1990. This is Walter Krinkite, Good night. Given by Donna Rodgers CLASS WILL We the graduating class of 1970, being of sound mind and body do bequeath the following: I Bill Alverdes do hereby bequeath to next years basketball team my ability to shoot a five-foot jump shot and miss it. To the whole student body of Jewell High School, I will my love for this Wonderful area in which we live. I Candi Foster do hereby bequeath to next years rally girls the right to throw a temper tantrum at the basketball boys or during a pep assembly at least once a week. To Diane Hanthorn I will my un- surpassed talent to gain weight and to Vicki Baker I pass on my traditional Mary Poppin's T-shirt, to be given to the under-classman of her choice upon graduation. Also to Mr. and Mrs. Peterson I will seat number 15 on the bus to be used for any extracurricular activity after the ball games. I Barbara Hanthorn do bequeath my locker to Virginia Twombly. I will to all the girls of Jewell High School my extraordinary gracefulness, so they may know the enjoyment of true embarrassment, when they fall down, and to all the boys participating in sports my ability to eat a 24 hour meal. I Vic Jarrett do bequeath my ability to find the square root of 1 to Mrs. Goodman, To Tim Foster I will my ability to drop baseballs and strike out in stress situations. I Jim Samuelson will my sliding pads that I wore out from sitting on the baseball bench to Herb Olstedt. I will my ability to keep the classroom disrupted to the Juniors. To all incoming fresh- men, I will my ability to get lost on the campus every morning trying to find my classroom and be tardy, and my ability to stick my big foot in my even bigger mouth, at least twice a day. I Donna Rodgers do bequeath to all girls playing basketball next year my ability to dribble the ball once before getting nervous and pass it off. To Virginia Twombly I will a desk with a backward chair so that she may turn around all class period to have someone to talk to. To all upcoming home economics students I will my unsurpassed ability to make taffy from a divinity recipe. We the class of 1970, do bequeath to all students of Jewell High School our ability to put off until tomorrow what could be done today.
