Passing the Torch . . . Belief Wnrzzcvz for zz Befler llynrfaff . . We chose this theme because we considered it an appro- priate theme . . . because we firmly believed that women, as the foundation of society, are the most important people in the world . . . Are not women, with God, the creators of precious human lives? Are they not also the molders of moral and religious instincts of men-as mothers or teachers? Are they not the greatest influences of right and wrong in this 20th Century? As we developed and meditated our theme and its tangents, we have tried to formulate a code of life for ourselves . . . and maybe, a handbook of advice for our friendly underclassmen. The four chapters of our annual, as they answered the who, why, how, or where of our theme, under- lined the fundamental aims of the school year: Character, Scholarship, Leadership and Service. They emphasized, thereby, the specific goal of the school -to fashion Better Students. Before closing our memory book, we pause here to thank the readers of the Echo. We feel they are friends since they patiently have reached these lines . . . We, the Class of l953, soon will join the Alumnae ranks. We wish to leave with you, who have known us, sweet memories of what we endeavored to be. We beg you to throw into oblivion our shortcomings, to think of us only in OLII' best light. To our underclassmates, and especially to our immediate successors, the Class of 1954, we fondly, yet reluctantly yield our responsibilities and honors. To our parents, we address one sentence: Thank you, for all you have done for us. To our faculty, we pen our deepest appreciation and say not good-bye, but, au revoir. We, Seniors of 1955, will return to you. Alma Mater, for guidance and inspiration, that we may wisely fulfill our primary vocation in life-to be Better Women in the XVorld of Tomorrow. The traditional junior Senior Day . . . Its hopes! lts tears! The Class of '53 ushers out its predecessors beneath the daisy chain. fTopJ: A year later, they themselves are taking leave of their Alma Mater more formally. And so, time marches on, in the friendly j. M. spirit . . . . gp ,xx 114 s X lulr, :ww-'fu .- it '5 , awww 'Y 1 r-.,. 73 .uf xA to the junior Class
