The new Freshmen at once enthusiast- ically greeted, were duly initiated on Sept- ember la, and welcomed into the large family ci'cle it ,I.M.A. Wfitnessed by the entire student body at a formal ccrernoriy in the auditorium on the l'lth, ren students were received into the National Honor Society. This, the first such initiation, provided an opport- unity for a thoropigh explanation of the society and its requirements. The beginning of the yearly grind was brightened by the annual retreat, which was preached this year' by Rev, Paul H. Demers, of tfie Marist Fathersg the re- ception of their class rings, an event anxiously awaited by the Seniorsg the in- stallation of the new sodality ofhcers, dur- ing a pious ceremony at the grotrog and the election of class officers. The va'ious clubs also began function- ing: strains of new runes were heard throughout the halls as the Cilee Club and the Orchtsrra prepared for concerts pre- sented in February and Ma 'ch, respective- lyg members of the Debating Team, and the Notre Dame Parish Choir began at- tending fruitful meetings. All in all, September proved to be quite an eventful month. 63
