'I Y if - 55 if I f ef' e'f,,3!g5, Service means the giving of one's self for the betterment of othersg no one serves more generously than the nun who gave up the world to bring education and culture to a growing generation. It is, therefore, with pleasure that we, Seniors, cede to our teachers a small but signin- cant place in this section, dedicated to service. Throughout the following pages, we shall endeavor to picture service in action parallel with the recordings of the 1952-1953 school year. The arrival of September brought changes among the faculty: some teachers were transferred, others promoted. We bade a sad adieu to M. St. Andre Avellin, M. St. Narcisse, M. Marie de Massabielle, M. St. jean Climaque, M. St. Timothy, M. St. Stephen, and M. Marie de la Visitation. In their place were named M. St. Ursula, M. St. Therese de la Ste. Face, M. Mary Josephine, and M. St. Laurent. The 55 Seniors gave an especially warm welcome to their new class teacher, M. St. Vincent de Paul, from Providence, and congratulated heartily M. St. .leanne de Rouen, who had been promoted from senior class teacher to principal and assistant at the school. 62 fl. to r.J: M. St. Vincent de Paul, sen home-room teacherg Rev. M. This, the first such initiation, provided an opport- unity for a thoropigh explanation of the society and its requirements. The beginning of the yearly grind was brightened by the annual retreat, which was preached this year' by Rev, Paul H. Demers, of tfie Marist Fathersg the re- ception of their class rings, an event anxiously awaited by the Seniorsg the in- stallation of the new sodality ofhcers, dur- ing a pious ceremony at the grotrog and the election of class officers. The va'ious clubs also began function- ing: strains of new runes were heard throughout the halls as the Cilee Club and the Orchtsrra prepared for concerts pre- sented in February and Ma 'ch, respective- lyg members of the Debating Team, and the Notre Dame Parish Choir began at- tending fruitful meetings. All in all, September proved to be quite an eventful month. 63
