Catholic schools and colleges make open profession of sending into the world women that are better prepared to play their roles, better prepared to counteract the false philo- sophies of life. Are all Catholic graduates the leaven of a better society? No amount of learning or indoctrination in any school can automatically instill better char- acters into its women. Character is an indi- vidual trait acquired by much willing on the part of the students, by their determination to go ahead, by their resolve to do what is right at all costs. Catholic Graduates, we will surely fail in our vocation to promote the cause of Christ in the world, if we set out simply to follow the crowd, content to be swayed by every wind of fash- ionable doctrine. On the other hand, we will succeed, as apos- tles in the vineyard of the Lord, if we use our will power to struggle against the spirit of 'the world . . . if through persistent effort we translate our Christian education into that qual- ity of living that is worthy of our Leader - Christ.
