The boys finished with a 5-4 dual meet record overall including 5-2 in the conference. The girls finished with a 3-3 conference record and 3-5 overall. Both teams completed against some of the toughest teams in the area. In addition, both squads are young, making the future of Jesup golf bright. Along with the successes, this had to be one of our most enjoyable years to coach as well. Both squads were made up of outstanding individuals; and the whole experience was a positive one. Although we will miss the seniors, with hard work over the summer, both teams should do even bet- ter next year. Coaches Winblade and Horn The boys team placed seventh in the conference and fourth at sectionals. The girls team placed seventh in the confer- ence and sixth at sectionals. Steve Schmit placed eighth at the conference meet, which earned him a medal. The boys team also broke some records this season: School record for nine holes-162- set at Springville School record for eighteen holes- 347- set at sectionals Hawks Have Tough Time In New Conference The J-Hawk football team started it's first year in the Tri-Rivers conference without a win. Head coach Steve Chi- dester says. Our varsity team was very inexperienced but their attitude, efforts, and dedication were about as much as a coach could expect under the circumstances....there was a lot of improvement throughout the season ... Doug Youngblut. a junior wide-re- ceiver on the team comments, ... the season was just getting started for us at our last game. Team members were ready to give one hundred per- cent, and did. Although the Hawks had a disap- pointing season, the coaches and team members expect better seasons in the years to come. First row: Troy Hevnbuck Dean Peterson. Brian Mezera. Steve Sctvnit.
