Jesuit High School today would be an unfamiliar place in a score of ways to those first students of St. John's College. In 1902, classes were small, hours were long, and discipline was of a harsher sort. While circumstances and people are different today, the essential challenge offered by the Jesuit tradi- tion has remained very much alive for us today. if '

The last seventy-five years have altered the lifestyles, beliefs, and goals of men in profound, often frightening ways. Jesuit is a part of the real world, therefore, it has experienced some great and disturbing changes as well. This often pain- ful process of transformation that occurs at every level of existence is likely to become more rapid and more anguished. But the Jesuit tradition has given us a sure foundation to build our lives upon. If we utilize the foundation given us here, we do not need to fear the future. Rather, we can look forward to it with eager anticipation.
