Season Summary The jones Varsity Football squad completed the 1967 season with an impressive 7-5 record and a second place standing in zone play. Playing in an all new zone, the team dropped the first game of the season to Pasadena, 13-7. Their morale unshattered, the boys rebounded in the next three games flying by Madison 48-13, Wheatley 20-19, and Worthing 18-O. At this point in the season, jones had established itself as one of the most powerful offensive teams in the city. During the Madison game, tailback Ray Ragone turned a seemingly bad play into a success as he ripped over left tackle on fourth down and broke four tackles in romping 58 yards for a touchdown. Ray placed first in rushing in the city and second in scoring. In the next three games, Jones lost a close one to Bellaire, 16-9, stampeded past Milby 48-7, and dropped one to Yates, 12-6. The Falcons then presented the student body with a tight' 22-20 Homecoming victory over Austin, and closed the grid season with big victories over Sterling 12-O, and Westbury, 26-0. Defensively, the Falcons were led by David MacArthur, jimmy Rodgers, Jimmy Law- rence, james Bialas, and Buzzy'l Wilhite. Ragone, Steve Cioli, Tyrone Richard, and Chuck Gosett led the offensive efforts.
