ee . . . Milbg . . . Shut Down 1 Falcon Eleven l Larry Bailey snares pass for first down. Shaky pass defense cost Jones its first game of the season. The final score was Jones 14, Lee 15. The Generals scored the critical points in the first and fourth quarters. Varsity rookie Danny Vara led the Jones rally by scoring touchdowns in the first and fourth quarters. Donnie Still scored the other two points of the night by catching one of Louie Gavrel's passes and running over the goal line for a two point conver- sion. Milton Thompson, Bill Atessis, and Lester Smith turned in exceptional playing performances. Crowds at fleppenson Stadium saw the Milby Buffs defeat Jones for the first time in four years. The score was a heartbreaking 22 to 12. Milby made two touchdowns and two point conversions in the first quarter and one touchdown in the third quarter. Despite touchdowns by Donnie Still and Mike Clements and fine playing by Louie Gavrel, Barry Huggins, Lester Smith, and Paul Ferguson, poor defensive playing cost Jones its second game. The Ganders got off to a flying start in the first quarter by scoring a touchdown and an extra point. In the second quarter, Jones began a drive on a pass inter- ception by Mike Clements. The drive was resumed in the third quarter with a series of fumbles and recoveries by the .lones team. Louie Gavrel's passing and tremendous Work by Milton Thompson, Bill Menard, and Tommy Twiford sparked the Fal- con drive. The Ganders shot to life again in the fourth quarter and ' scored another T.D. Jones made a heroic stand in the closing I minutes of the game, but to no avail.
