They Used the Trick and Got the Treat Halloween turned out to be the lucky day for the Golden Falcons as they beat the Bellaire Cardinals for the first time in seven years. Van Brown returned the opening kickoff 44 yards to the Card 42. In six plays the Falcons had scored. Wayne Morgan went over for the touchdown and Teddy Caniff made the point after. Van then moved the swift 11 sixty-two yards in seven plays for a second quarter six pointer. Tommy Maxwell went over from the five, but Teddy's kick was blocked leaving the score 13-0. Not to be denied, the mighty Bellaire Cardi- nals fought the Jones defense to put six , points on the scoreboard. Jones Bellaire 1 First 14 14 Total yds. 226 208 The Falcons Put a Bear 1n Van completed eight of eleven passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns and gained 62 yards in six attempts on the ground. Gary Brown carried for 59 yards in 17 tries. The Falcons opened the scoring in the second period after a 19-yard punt return to San Iac's 21, by Gary. Van ended the drive of 21 yards on a touchdown pass of seven yards to Ronnie Pierce. The second score came with Van on a six-yarder. Donald McGraw intercepted a pass to set up the next score. Two passes from Van, the first to Maxwell for 12 and then the bomb to George Cox for 37 yards and the score. The final score was made on a 94-yard march taking only 7 plays. The Falcons stopped a Bear drive on their own six and with Van toting the ball 55 yards and completing a pass for 17 they moved to the four yard line. Tommy Max- well rushed across for the score.

A Tough Falcon Defense Crumbles the Rebel Charge, 16- 14 The Falcon boys seem to enjoy keeping the crowds on edge with close scores. Never- theless, the Falcon team pre- vailed. It was simply a case of too much speed as Van chalked up 110 yards rushing on 12 carries and 69 yards passing to pave the way. Teddy Gold- en-Toe Caniff bounced a 26- yard field goal off his foot in -the 5rd quarter and Van flipped a nine-yarder to Steve Tunstall early in the fourth to finish it up. Rusty Clark also learned to think before speak- ing! 7 Van Brown breaks lose for 37 yards and 6 points. Vlestbury jones First Downs 16 13 Total Net Yards 215 247 Hitters Have a Sealping Party, 32 Bounding around on the football field like a bunch of fpardon the expressionj wild Indians, the Falcons scored their fourth straight victory. Brown and Brown were the colors for the night as they scored all but one touchdown. Gary, who carried the ball 15 times for 70 yards scored three of them, one on a five-yard pass from Van. Van scampered across the two yard line for the final six points. The Falcons took advantage of two Lamar mistakes to put their 1st thirteen points on the scoreboard, in the last three minutes of the lst quarter. Ted Scruggs and Donald McGraw combined to set up the first on the Redskin 20. Lamar's troubles were only beginning. The kickoff sailed in and out of the arms of a Lamar receiver. The Falcons then moved 61 yards in 5 plays. Wayne Tolar Morgan shot up the middle for the last 6. The An immovable force hits an irresistible object. 16

The Austin Mustangs Defeated! The first four times the Falcons got the ball it went over the goal line. An amazed audience watched the score climb to 28-O at the half. Gary Brown accounted for 3 touchdowns, Van made 2 points and threw to Tommy Maxwell for a touchdown, and Teddy Caniff kicked two extra points. Max- well also made a 23-yard touchdown run. The Mustangs put 15 points on the board to make it 28-15. Pretty wasn't it? How is that for speed? The Generals Retreated, 34-14 Mac Masters A Gary f Brown W V X- George V 'A T COX Van makes another six. George Cox pulls one down The Golden Falcons became the city and 9-AAAA champions! Teddy Caniff makes the point! The Generals face a brick wall.
