-1. . if Fabulous 50's Relived at I.V. One day in October, students at l.V. traveled back to the 5O's. Spirited students put on their parent's old poodle skirts and sweaters, rolled up their blue jeans, and slicked back their hair. This resulted in cool looking girls and guys parad- ing through the halls to further school spirit, However, the students were not the only people into the spirit of the occa- sion! Many of the teachers dressed up in their old duds, too! ln fact, some of the teachers seemed to be enjoying them- selves more than the students! By recreating the 5O's, the sjpirit rose and the attitudes changed in both teachers and stu- ents. a.j Mrs. White and Mrs. Shelton show their spirit by dressing up on 50's day. b.j Beth Daughtry, Kenny Terry, Sandra Warmke, and Mike Whitworth dance their hearts out at the pep rally. c.j Janna Boze and Joey Davis show their spirit at the pep rally. d.j lunior Varsity cheerleaders perform a 50's day cheer. Destruction Pills Last Day As another school year came to a closing, destruction and vandalism seemed to come with it. The last day of school brought with it trash, fires, and fireworks. ln an effort to clean out their lockers, careless students threw old papers and notebooks on the hall floors. Aside from all the trash in the halls, a small fire was started in one of the boys bathrooms and firecrackers were shot off throughout the day. Most of the day was spent taking final exams, but there were breaks given every hour. After exams were fin- ished, students had parties, played cards, or talked with friends. When the bell finally rang at 1:15, school was offi- cially over and summer vacation had begun. a.j Surrounded by trash from the ' Freshman hall, Mr. Ryan talks with students during a break. b., Kirk Zalesak, Mike Brown, Cheryl Ladd ' Alford and Mike Boze talk and listen to the radio during one of the breaks. CJ As the day progressed, the paper piled up higher and higher in this hall where Freshman lockers were located. d.j Brenda Habeggar, Scott Mathews, and Shelley Brzy- mialkiewicz work diligently on their final, but the bottle of coke and bag of goodies indicate their plans for a party. ,-.ti Cl. l'f'. i 3 -4. Hits on the Silver Screen! Most of this year's best entertainment in movies were serious dramas rather than comedies. Animal House, Foul Play, and Same Time Next Year were all excellent if you wanted to have a good laugh. When it came down to the Oscars, though, these just didn't rate with movies like The Deer Hunter, Coming Home, The Champ, Heaven Can Wait, and The China Syndrome. For the most part, there was always a wide selection of good movies to see, but getting into them was another problem! If the high prices, 53.75 for adults, didn't stop you then the crowds did. Waiting in long lines became as much a part of going to the movies as buying popcorn. Some faithful movie-goers could be seen standing in line for an hour or more and still not getting in. For those who did, the reward was theirs. The theatres around town where you were most likely to run into a l.V. student were Town and Country 6, Northwest 4, Loews 3 in Town and Country, and Festival Six. aillon Voight and Ricky Schroeder in their tear-jerking movie, The C amp.
