The 79 Falcon yearbook staff consists of seven- teen members, sixteen of them being rookies. During the summer nine staff members traveled to Huntsville to attend the Sam Houston State Communication Workshop at Sam Houston Uni- versity. They received a 2nd place with their dummy fa rough draft of the yearbookl. Some awards Won by the staff were: 2nd place, Cover Design, Collynne Edwards, 2nd place, Open Spread, Karla Linden, 3rd place, Best Sports Spread, Annette Fallin and a ist place by Ceryta Lockett for the Faculty Page. March 17 and 18 certain staff members traveled to Austin for the lnterscholastic League Press Con- ference. At the conference they attend classes designed to improve and iron out yearly problems. 15 Singers Selected to All-Region Choir The 1978-79 school year was both eventful and suc- cessful for the jersey Village Choirs. ln October, twenty-five students auditioned for membership in the selected All-Region Choir and fifteen Chorale members were selected, the second highest total among thirty-three schools who entered students in the competition. These students competed in the Region Choir Festival Concert in january in Conroe. December was crowded with many concerts and events. The Concert Choir performed at a rest home and three elementary schools before presenting a public concert. Members of the Chorale sang for the Cy-Fair Administrators, Greenspoint and Town and Country Shopping Centers and at the Hyatt Regency :-lotel prior to its public Winter Concert at jersey Vil- age. Later in December the Chorale presented a spar- kling performance of the Christmas Opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors a portion of which was shown on television on Christmas Day. Kenneth Cordray became a member of the Texas All State choir in january. ln February thirty-three stu- dents won first division honors on solos along with two trios, two madrigals and a medium ensemble. jer- sey Village students won a total of 76 medals, tops by a considerable margin in the Cy-Fair district. Twenty- two of the soloists qualified for the State Solo and Ensemble Contest at the University of Texas in Austin. In March the Chorale reached the ultimate of achievements, that of winning three Sweepstakes Awards with Girls, Boys and Mixed Choirs. The Con- cert Choir did well, receiving a second division rating in Concert performance. 216 CI bs Girls Choir performs at Corpus.
