irs. Brown gives Cindy Dobias her Scholastic Writing ward presented by the Houston Post. Roger Leslie waits while Mr. Bill Yansey announces Roger's award for English lV and lists his numerous scholarships. Students Gain Recognition! ln order to honor those who performed out- standing either academically or otherwise, IV held an annual Awards program. Not including scholar- ships, more than 160 students received an award for achievements in a specific field or class. Many of this year's Seniors received scholarships. Adam Luchenbach received one from the Air Force Acad- emy worth more than 595,000 Senior Ronnie Davis proudly accepts his Art ll award and his National Scholastic Gold Key for art work. Awards-213

'79 Falcon Climbs Forward Ioey Garcia is caught coming out of the dark room. Above: Soph Cheryl Alford attains new ideas from last years year- book. Below: Soph Tammy Morgan laughs at Mr. Z's iokes. The 79 Falcon yearbook staff consists of seven- teen members, sixteen of them being rookies. During the summer nine staff members traveled to Huntsville to attend the Sam Houston State Communication Workshop at Sam Houston Uni- versity. They received a 2nd place with their dummy fa rough draft of the yearbookl. Some awards Won by the staff were: 2nd place, Cover Design, Collynne Edwards, 2nd place, Open Spread, Karla Linden, 3rd place, Best Sports Spread, Annette Fallin and a ist place by Ceryta Lockett for the Faculty Page. March 17 and 18 certain staff members traveled to Austin for the lnterscholastic League Press Con- ference. At the conference they attend classes designed to improve and iron out yearly problems.
