The German Club, a well established organization at l.V., had a very active year. It began with their attending the Oktuberfest celebration at the Old Hei- delberg Inn. While served German food, they were entertained by a live oom-pa-pa band. At Christmas time, they held a party at one of their member's house, and also had a Cookie Bake-Off contest, which was judged by the officers. Later in the year, they took their play Ashenputtle to competition at Klein and Sam Houston, and held their traditional German breakfast. To raise money, they sold German candy, which was very popular around campus. In May they had their annual Awards Banquet, in which members received scholarships to summer camp. u Some members even received the honor of being published in Tags, a monthly German newsletter.
