Co-Coach of the Year This year Coach Raymond Hall received the honor of being named District Co- Coach of the Year. Coach Hall has been directing the Boys Varsity Basketball Team at jersey Village for two consecutive years. This year Coach Hall did an outstanding job leading the Falcons to a district co- championship. In Hall's first year the Falcons were turned completely around. Winning only 3 games in 1977, the Falcons went 16-16 in 1978. The co-champion team of 1978-79 posted a 24-11 record, Lacking size the'Falcons head coach guided his team with a slowed down four corner offense proving the Falcons could and did compete with the best. Pre-Season The basketball season started like any other season, with long, hard practices and practice games, with few fans. As the sea- son progressed the fans grew. With the inspiration from the fans the team gained their confidence, along with their ability to play together. Out of the 12 pre-season, non-district games the Falcons won 9, never losing by more than 7 buckets. ln the game against Lutheran, the Fal- cons blasted through, for a win, 73-29. With district play less than two weeks away, the Falcons played Cy-Fair for the championship game at the 1979 Cypress Fairbanks ISD Annual Tournament. Kevin McCarthy led all Falcons pumping in 16 points. The Falcons were defeated by the Bobcats 68-48. This 20 point spread was the most the Falcons ever lost by, through- out the season. Having quickness and proving to have the best defense in the state, it looked as though a bright, promis- ing, and successful season awaited the Fal- cons.
