Finally there is one last distinction between the two school lev- els. Freshmen are handed the social status name of Fish. This adds to their problem of social standings. Upper classmen enjoy picking on Fish, because of the nevervending rotation of social standings. From the first day of school the difference between Junior High and Jersey Village is very clear. Teachers give stu- dents ample time in class to finish the assignments. But some freshmen manipulate their 55 minutes by goof- ing-off or writing notes to friends. Thus the books are Iugged home and the boring chore begins. Many fresh- men have different ways in which they approach their homework. On the phone with a friend or perhaps receiv- ing vibes from their favorite rock groups. Some freshmen feel that homework on weekends is a dreaded drag. They feel they could have spent their time running around with friends or watching a good movie on televi- sion. Classes - 259
