Jersey Village is filled with courses designed to do much more than become a requirement for graduation. These courses of career include: Cosmetology, Coordi- nated Vocational Academic Education CCVAED, Distributive CDED, Home Econom- ics, Industrial Cooperation Training CICTJ, Vocational Agriculture, and Vocational Office Education CVOEJ. Cosmetology is a vocational preemploy- ment program. The program trains high school students to be a skilled and profes- sional cosmetologist, after the completion of 1000 hours classroom and nine school credits in a two year course. CVAE includes pre-employment training for students age 14 and older offering on campus training in a specific occupation such a general construction, general mechanical repair, and office duplicating practices. The occupational program designed to prepare students for career in retailing, wholesaling, and service selling businesses through a combination of on-the-job experi- ence and related classroom instruction is what JV student find in Distributive Educa- tion. The major objective of Home Economics education are the preparation of today's youth to enable them to function effectively as individuals and as members of family groups during their adolescent years and in later life. Home Ec. offers a range of oppor- tunities to acquire specialized occupational skills for use in home and community set- tings. The ICT program is designed for junior or senior students who have a desire to explore a definite trade and learn an indus- trial skill. These skills vary from welding to dental assistants. The Vocational Agriculture goal is to pro- duce trained agriculturists for the future. The course curriculum involves animal sci- ence, agriculture mechanics, and plant and soil science. Building an advanced study of agriculture, the student may enroll for one to four years of vocational agriculture. Including finding classroom instruction stu- dents are required to produce a supervised project ranging from rabbits to steers.
