Cheerleaders Support Sports at Jersey Village Varsity cheerleaders were packed with enthusi- asm, spirit, and support for the sports at Jersey Vil- lage. First the cheerleaders were elected by the stu- dent body late in spring of last year. The girls elected were Donna Barhorst, Ellen Cummings, Col- lyne Edwards, Denise Griswold, Falcon, Karon Kel- logg, Jennell Smith, Lorin Thomas, and Sandra Warmke. After election the cheerleaders must buy their uniforms and prepare themselves for camp. The cheerleaders attended Southern Methodist Uni- versity in Dallas during the summer. At camp the cheerleaders learned new cheers, chants, poster varieties, and moral boosting techniques. The cheerleaders won the spirit stick three times and for the second year brought one home with them. After camp the cheerleaders arranged times to meet and practice before the first sports activity begins. Pep rallies are the first time the cheerleaders show what they have accomplished. During football games the cheerleaders boosted the student body to help them in their effort to support the football players. At the basketball games the cheerleaders were always somewhere to be found cheering on the athletes. As we led into spring the cheerleaders are outside again backing the baseball players with spirit and organization. The cheerleaders put forth I-:xtreme effort toward boosting spirit at Jersey Vil- age. I 60 Organizations Before the game Lorin and Sandra make minor preparations. It's all smiles as the cheerleaders and sponsor Cyndi Brantly return home from a successful week at summer camp. N E' S E E S 3 r 4
