The ancient peo- ple wore these charms in the form ' 5 of a necklace rather than a brace- let because, in early times, a brace- 'lag let was a symbol of slavery. In our 4 modern day, although charms are used chiefly for ornaments, they do characterize definite features in life. We have used a charm bracelet for the theme of our book this year. Each charm portrays a phase of our school life. As you leaf through the pages of THE ORANGE AND N BLACK, you will see how we have assembled our charm bracelet and ,ax . will become intimately acquainted S with the functioning of the intricate mechanism known as J. To Uur Little Lady Of Music- MISS BARDO l,4, P V Miss Bardo receives a tribute from her fellow workers. tc . Miss RUTH Bimbo Miss Ruth Bardo began a successful career before her graduation in l909 with private voice and Piano lessons at Dickinson Seminary, now Lycoming College. She, then, attended Pennsyl- vania University for two years, summer scssionsg and began teaching in the jersey Shore school district. She continued her education at West- chester State Normal for two summers, thus earn- ing her diploma. She clidn't stop there. She spent a summer at the Christiansen School of Music in Chambers- burg, Pennsylvania, the Fred Waring Worksholw at State College, and the Pepper Music Clinic at Bucknell University. She has served the three schools of jersey Shore faithfully for thirty-seven years! Miss Bardo-the Orange and Black Staff and the entire school district salute your service.
