ORANGE AND BLACK The ORANGE AND BLACK staff is made up of eighteen members, who work hard to put out a good yearbook. Under the leadership of our edi- tor, Wilfred Gardner, we worked out a theme of special interest this year. Each division of the staff was responsible for a section of the book. It is known for its many activities during the year such as an annual square dance, a trip to the local places of his- torical interest and attendance at the State Con- vention, held in Harrisburg every year. Helping to raise money for the purchase of the Little Red Schoolhouse was the major project this year. It is set up to foster the basic concept of a demo- cratic way of living. Some of the projects the School Council spon- sored were: The Charity Drive and Ball, Courte- sy Campaign, an assembly program, Tiadaghton Bowl Crowning, selling P. T. A. Fashion Show tickets, and helping the Booster Club. They guard the crossings near the school at opening and dismissal times. The patrol-boys, supervised by Nr. Knauber. were: Miles Barker, George Durrwachter, Dave Wolfe, Richard Fox, Dave Breining, Neil Clark, John Gamble, and Robert I-leverly. NATURAL SCIENCE CLUB This club was organized as the Nature Club bv lVIr. Lockard in 1953-54 school term. They took part in all science fairs at Penn State. Many projects followed such as building bird feeding stations and bird houses, having Natural Audubon Screen Tours, buying equipment for the school Aquarium and giving a planetarium and a set of nature books to the school. This year they sponsored a local Science Fair and the winner went to the Susque- hanna Valley Fair at Bucknell University. The club is now afliliated with Science Clubs ol' America at the Pennsylvania ,lunior Academy of Science. The club is divided into three sections with lVIr. Lock- ard sponsoring Biology, lVIr.
