JERSEY SHORE 0 Away BELLEFONTE 21 The Bulldogs went into this game riding on the crest of a two-game winning streak, but as the game progressed, the Shoremen just eouldn't get into high gear. When the smoke cleared over the opponents' field, the Bulldogs found that they llllfl yet to Will an LlVVlly gillne. JERSEY SHORE 13 Away SAYRE 6 This up-state team will long remember the Bull- dogs, who, playing in their best form, dashed the hopes of the Sayre team by handing them their only defeat of the season. Sayre took this loss hard, since the defeat came from a team the Sayre- men thought would give them their easiest game of the season. JERSEY SHORE 21 Home BLOOIXISBURG 0 With the scalp of an undefeated team on their belts, the Shoremen returned to their home field to defeat the llloomsburg eleven easily. By so doing, the Bulldogs remained undefeated on their home field. JERSEY SHORE 12 Away lX4ILTON 13 The Shoremen lost this heartbreaking game by one point, when, in the final seconds of the game, they failed to put the ball over the line after driving deep into enemy territory. This was the closest and probably the hardest fought game of the season. This game found both teams giving their all to present an amazing display of brain, brawn, and skill. JERSEY SHORE 13 Home SOUTH VVILLIAIXISPORT 6 By defeating the Mountaineers the Shoremen assured themselves of winning more games than they lost. This has been a standing record ever since Ken Hart took the helm of the Bulldogs. JERSEY SHORE 12 Home TYRONE I3 The Bulldogs wound up their season by their only loss at home. This gave them a season record of six wins and live defeats. And so the Orange and Black gridmen put their equipment in moth- balls with these words on their lips- VVait until next year! Although they clicl not have an impressive recortl of wins this year, the team still accomplished its main purpose, which is to give actual playing experience to as many players as possible. CLASS POEM Four years have flown so quickly by For the Class of '51 at S. High And now for all of us, it seems, We have at last fulfilled our dreams. We entered here, a trifle shy To learn the ways of I. S. High But as we worked toward our last year, We realized our hopes were here. The memories of yesterday From us, will never fade away, For when these golden days are gone The hopes we built will linger on. We owe so much to all of you Who helped us make our hopes come true, And as the fleeting years go by Weill hold in mem'ry, our Jersey Shore High. But now we must depart from you And start for ourselves, a life that is new, But in our hearts you'l1 Hnd a sigh For dear old friends and jersey Shore High. -S HIRLEY MILLER CLASS HISTORY On October 31, 1947 We, the class of 1951, numbering 184, had our first class meeting which was in charge of Mrs. Weiler, our class adviser. The most important event of this term was the Freshmen class party held on February 9, 1948. The party was such a success that the president, Glenn Lehman, called a special assembly to congratulate the students who participated in the entertainment for the party. To assist Glenn we chose: Vice-President - - TONY MONDELL Secretary - - JOYCE KELCHNER Treasurer ------ - LORRAINE KITCHEN In our Sophomore year, our class officers were: President - - - - - GLENN LEHMAN Vice-President - - CARL PEPPEHMAN Secretary - - IOYCE KELCHNER Treasurer - - EDITH LAULER 68 We entered a float in the Hallowe'en parade which, through the efforts of our talented classmates, won a prize. The high point of our Sophomore year was the choosing of our class rings which we received in May. We held our school party in March with entertainment furnished during intermission by members of the Class of 1951. Our class adviser this year was Mr. Courtney. Finally we reached the stage in our high school career when we were known as upper classmen . We elected as oliicers: Popular President - - - GLENN LEHMAN Valuable Vice-President - CARL PEPPERMAN Skillful Secretary - - jovcn KELCHNER Tactful Treasurer ------ DOROTHY LEHMAN With the able assistance of our class adviser, Mrs. Daugherty, our third year in J. S. H. S. moved pleasantly and smoothly. The hi hli hts of this ear were man . Most im ortant to us, however, was 8 8 Y Y P the Junior Class Play, Half Past Teen . We sponsored a class party, with enter- tainment rovided b members of the class, won a rize for enterin the rettiest P Y P 8 P float in the Christmas aradeg and in Ma acted as hosts to the Seniors at the annual P Y junior-Senior Prom. At last our grand and glorious Senior year put in its appearance. We numbered 131. We elected our class oflicers as follows: Powerhouse President - - - - LYLE PERRY Valiant Vice-President - - GLENN LEHMAN Scintillating Secretary - EDITH LAULER Terrific Treasurer ---- .- DOROTHY LEHMAN Our class adviser for the year was Mr. Ross Watts. Our class play, The High School Mystery , was an overwhelming success. We also held our annual school party. A new feature introduced by the Senior class this year was a gala Christmas Dance. Our year ended with a bang. We had our annual class day exercises, were entertained by the Juniors at the Junior-Senior Prom, and were guests of the P. T. A. at the class banquet at Salladasburg.
