Assistant t'oacll.- FOOTBALL August lfl,l949-Tliis date marks the beginning of a sensational championship season for the Bull- dogs of Jersey Shore High. Yes, Coach Hart pre- dictated a few years back that, M49 is our season. and it really was. Our Bulldogs tore through the opponents in such a Hne style that there wasnit any doubt that these Champions were playing their level best for good old J. S. High. Hats off to a great team! JERSEY SHORE I9 MONTOUIISVILLE 7 Xvasting no time, the Bulldogs romped to a l9-7 conquest of a strong Wa1'1'ior Eleven. Outstanding play of the game was when Kennedy, Shore center, went for a touchdown only to have it called back. lVIontoursville went on to win the West Branch title. JERSEY SHORE 34 LOCK HAVEN 0 Nels Hoffman in his debut against Bulldogs of Jersey Shore, coached by Hart who in his high school days played for ,l. S. under Hoffman, really found going almost impossible as Jersey Shore completely Outclassed the Bobcats in the annual classic. Outstanding play in the game-Reid's in- terception of a Bobcat pass and touchdown jaunt early in the game. JERSEY SHORE 27 RENOVO 0 Bulldog substitutes gained much valuable ex- perience here playing most of the last three quarters. After insuring a victory with a couple of td's in the first few minutes. Coach Hart emptied the bench. Outstanding play of the game was using the regular backfield on the line and some of the linemen in the backfield, combined with blocking of fullback Francis and the center line. .ll'IRSlCY SHORE 31 B1,OOMsRuRc 6 ,lersey Shore's vaunted attackers were held in check during most of the first half by a good Bloom team, but the Bloom team couldnlt stand up under our strong attack during the second half. Outstand- ing play in the game was Fergusonis 50 yard scamp- er for a touchdown which broke the ice in the see- Ond quarter. JERSEY SHORE 21 MILTON 1.3 A well-drilled Milton eleven threw a scare into the Bulldogs before the Bulldogs roused themselves and came from behind to win 21-13. Before the game was 6 minutes Old, Milton had a 13-0 lead but couldn't hold it.
