Tigers Gain Third Victory Narrowly Lose Big Seven NIP SHOSHONE 19-6 When Shoshone's Indians came to Jerome September 21, the fast improving Tigers hand- ed them a thorough shellacking of 19-6. The Tigers started without quarterback J. W. Par- is, but the Indians put up such strenuous op- position that Coach Norby sent him in to score the first touchdown on a drive through center There was no more scoring until the third quarter when Jerome crashed over from the one yard line Shosh ne then got away for a touchdown on a weak side play but the Tigers came right back to score on a 25 yard pass Tigers Tie for Big 7 Lead CLEAN OAKLEY 44 6 Owing to the magnificent blocking of the Tiger line Jerome easily outdistanced the Oakley Hornets by a 44 6 score The varsity played very little but the B squad was well able to match and even better than match the visitors Holding them scoreless for the first half 31 0 Jerome found it easy to keep the Hornets with their backs to the wall Oak ley was able to make but one touchdown in the second half while Jerome tallied up two more Jerome Wins Toughest Game novm scimr-PY SENATORS zo iz In one of those race horse battles on Goodings home field the Jerome Tigers de feated them in the toughest game of the year by a 20 12 margin At the end of the first per lod the score was deadlocked 6 6 In the second frame Jerome scored again but the Senators came right back to score However they miss ed their conversion making it 13 12 at the halftime The third quarter saw Jerome score again for the last touchdown of the evening Unhampered By Lull in Schedule NORBYMEIN BEAT BUHL is 6 In the annual Armistice Day tilt the Jer ome grid warriors swamped the Buhl Indians by a score of 13 6 Even though the Tigers had been out of school for a months harvest va cation they displayed the s me old power typ ical of them Evidence to the fact that Buhl was beaten badly was the tally of first downs Jerome 20 118 in the first halfl and Buhl 8 Buhls passing attack which had defeated many teams was bottled up completely un til the final minutes of the last quarter Both of Jeromes touchdowns came at the end of 75 yard drives Much credit has to be given to the powerful Jerome line which has been a great factor in their six straight wins Championship FALL BEFORE BOBCATS 13-12 Concluding a highly successful season, the Jerome Tigers journeyed to Burley on Nov- ember 17 only to taste their first and only de- feat of the season by a heart breaking nar row margin of 13 12 Jerome fought a savage battle and made more yardage and slightly more first downs 8 to 5 Early in the first quarter the Tigers scored by their fme block ing and sparkling play The lead didnt last long though as the Bobcats capitalized on a Jerome fumble and scored making it six all Burley came right back to score again on a pass The kick was good making the score 13 6 ln her favor Without Paris and Carl ton who were injured in the second frame the Jerome boys could merely hold the Bob cats until the stars could get back into the game However in the closing minutes of the game the Tigers scored another touch down but their try for the point was block ed Therefore Jerome had to turn over the championship to the Burley Bobcats Ten Lettermen Among 1946 Graduates Even with ten lettermen leaving the squad Jerome should have a fine team next season as there is much good material coming up from the B squad Those leaving are Al bert Lickley end Charles Wilkes tackle Kly osh1A1zawa center Dale Kulm guard Rex Thomason tackle J W Paris quarterback Fred Carlton halfback LeeRoy Walter quarterback Howard Johnson end and Lamar Williams halfback 55:2 'wefhisssr f hr' E ar if M-elm ,Gif ,gag MN W j j. 1-ev - - - Y - - I O , , i ' ' . . . , . 1 1 , . - i , i . . . .
