A banquet was held near the end of the year followed by a formal dance. The debate teams, coached by B. B. Brig- ham, attended the dis- trict debate tourna- ment at Twin Falls. TheDeclamatorycon- test held at Burley was attended by only one Jerome artist. Vi- da Lou Strickland gave a dramatic cutting. School Clubs The J Club held its yearly initiation inthehighschoolgym. The girls came dressed as farmers while the boys wore dresses for a parade of new styles. The Home Ec girls sponsored a party for the Ag dept. Refresh- ments were served and dancing followed. A delegation of the Live Wire Staff at- tended a High School Journalism Convention at Sun'Valley. Ernest Hemingway, the noted author, was a guest speaker. One of the most im- portant meetings of the Student Body Coun- cil was held November 14, 1941. The annual staff was chosen from the applications of interested students. Helen Jeane Terry was elected editorg Bar- bara Smith and Frances Studyvin, assistant editorsg Hayne Pal- mour, business manag- erg Jack Lewis, senior editorg Fleta Wil- liams, junior editorg Edgar Coupe, sopho- more editor, Ruthe Diefendorf, freshman editor 3 and Dean Rick- etts,snapshoteditor. Mr. Robinson 'was ad- visor. They wish to extend their appreciation to the students who were not on the staff, but helped.
