Senior Class Colors Senior Class Motto Senior Class Flower Semcw gfmaf The Seniors of 1942, have achieved their ultimate goal and can at last heave a high of relief falong with our struggl- ing teachersl. Well, we remember our first day in dear old J.H.S., 135 strong we were. The opening assembly held us spellbound as all the teachers were intro- duced and we were given instructions what to do and what not to do tmostly what NOT to doh. Those terrifying little articles we had to carry around, blue slips, remember. Will we ever forget those Sen- iors? How we envied, admired, and some- times wished to trip them. Ch, yes, we musn't forget the first time the assembly bell rang. It was then we learned the ac- tual meaning of the motto May the Best Man Survive! We musn't forget the sport angle, either. Big Johni' must have had heart failure when he saw our stringy little bunch more or less skip out for football, track, basketball, and etc, Take a look at them now, though. We have in our midst an Honorable Mention football star, Ray Stangerg Golden-Glove Boxing Champ, Lyman Holloway, and wha1's more, good possibilities of more this year. We can't call them stringy anymore, not when we have a few heavy weights such as Don Church at 185 pounds. Mr. Byron Berry Advisor The year we were Sophomores, we really started the ball rolling. One of the Social Events of the year was our Sopho- more class dance. We used the winter theme and -had very ifice decorations. A record crowd too. That year we could laugh at the greenies as we had been laughed at and we felt that we were on the way up. Perhaps we should mention at our class began diminishing that 'r and .we lost several of our class ' Yes. Ve feel quite sure that you will con- - to hear about the Junior Prom the . af 1942 gave. Dale Terry - - Blue and White - Acliievenzent with Honor - Carnation thy Seniors we gave a real shindig on April 18, 1941. we decided upon the Navy theme this time and used our class colors of red and white. Barbara Smith was the decorating chairman and to her and the committee a lot of credit must go, The Prom was held in the Moose Hall and our class president Isabelle Newman and her partner, Lyman Holloway, led the pictur- esque Grand March. You won't mind if we brag a little, will you ? We were the first class for several years to come out above board on the Junior Prom dance! Now, worthy reader, we are Seniors. Again this year we came to the front and gave a most successful Senior Ball, on De- cember 29, 1941. We decided to use the gym for the place, the first class to make such a move. Again we must give credit to the decorating committee for the won- derful effect produced for an evenings en- tertainment. Our Senior President, Jack Lewis, and his dancing partner, Anna Lou Craig, started the evening off by leading the Grand March. We must give our- selves credit for being original about the Ball in another way. To give honor to two members of our class we decided to have the Student Body elect a King and Queen of the Senior Ball. During the in- termission they were crowned by our Sen- ior Class Advisor, Byron L. Berry. The lucky two, Isabelle Newman and Ray Stanger, were escorted down the center of the hall by their six attendants, runner- ups. A fitting climax for a very success- ful evening. Our history is nearing completion now but before we sign off we wish to ex- press our sincere thanks and give our sin- cere good wishes to our fine principal, teachers, and student body friends for their help and encouragement in aiding us to become members of tie class of 1942. J. ll. S. is really a swell place! Just ask LIS. , 'E I
