ba thu , I I --9... Students go to the auditorium by way of the new addition for our opening day assembly. Every year brings with it something new and some- thing that will be remembered. The 1959-1960 school year was no exception. This year brought with it the new look--the new look of optimistic advancement. This was the year Russia's prime minister, Nikita Kruschev, was entertained by our president, Dwight D. Eisenhower, on his first visit to our country. To an optimistic and advancing world, this. could mean peaceful co-existence. This was the fantastic year that brought with it rockets to the moon and pictures of the farside of our natural, but now not lonely, satellite. Could this be the beginning of the Space Age? Certainly! This was the era when people looked to the future as well as the past. This was the year when Jennings High School be- Four came newly equipped with inore modern classrooms and equipment. To an optimistic and advancing stu- dent body this could mean an exuberant and prolific year. The students have approached this opportunity with alacrity and have overcome any unfamiliarity which may have existed in our new building. We, the Jen Echo Staff, in keeping with this trend hope to use our Annual to communicate not only what this year has given us to remember but also the contributions this year has made to our future days. It is our wish to show how this year has helped us to meet the perplexities of joining with the people of our country in the purpose of keeping scientifically abreast of other nations, advancing our civilization, and living in harmony with one another.
