Southeastern Bookkeeping Typing Mrs. Conner points out the correct spelling of a commonly misspelled word to Bonnie Reynolds in office practice. Office practice enables students to get a good idea of the various duties of secretaries. Mrs. Conner times her typing students as they take a time-writing. For most students who are planning to go to college, knowing how to type is practically a must. As one person reads shorthand from her book, the remaining students follow in their book while Mrs. Conner listens for errors. 21

French, a Language of South Louisiana MR. TERRY J. MAYEUX B.S.. LSU French I, II One of the first French assignments is a simple French composition which each person must say before the class. Fran Boudreaux is giving her composition which is entitled Mes Amies ( My Friends ). An important part of French I is learning to have subject and predicate agreement. Barbara Bailey and Gloria Lejeune are writing sentences on the board to demonstrate this principle. At the end of the year, French students are expected to be able to takc simple dictation. Mr. Mayeux is dictating a lesson to his class. To pass a test, one must be able to read the instructions which are written in French. Mr. Mayeux is writing the instructions for his fourth hour class.

McNeese Public Speaking Debate Drama During the school year our school debate squad held a series of debates with other teams from throughout the state. Robert Sonnier. Genee Hine. David Marcantel. and Brenda Manuel are making last minute preparations before debating the team from LaGrange. To Speak Well Is Another.” Most of the time spent in debate is for research material. Debaters Brenda Manuel, Genee Hine, Robert Sonnier, Shelia Guy, Fran Boudreaux, and David Precht gather material to use in the future.
