The Office Staff Guides School Business ABOVE: Coach Eddie Harelson resigned as assistant principal at mid-term to accept the job of co-ordinator of the Media Center of Jeff Davis Parish. Coach Harelson had been assistant principal for two years. ABOVE: Coach Ralph McKinstry, who took Coach Harelson’s place as assistant principal, has many varied responsibilities. One of these is to sign admit slips. He is signing Rod Breaux's admit slip while Shirley Baker fills out hers. ABOVE: While checking in each morning and getting their mail, teachers often stop to talk with Mrs. Evans and Coach McKinstry. 12 ABOVE: Mrs. Helen Evans, the office secretary; has much bookwork to do every day. One job which she does is writing checks for bills.

Those absent are: Mr. Charles Burgess, Mr. Shelby Putnam, and Mr. J. Edward Bourgeois. School Board of the 1965-66 Year The School Board of Jeff Davis Parish is a policymaking board of 14 members. These representatives are elected by popular vote by wards for six-year terms. The number of those selected is determined by population. There is one School Board member per Police Juror. The duties of this policy-making committee lie in governing the operations of the schools, securing money for the support of the schools, providing buildings and space for the schools, and employing the personnel that work in the schools. To carry on all its various activities, the School Board receives funds and support from federal, state, and local sources. The workers in the School Board office include Miss Elza Stewart, secretary; Mrs. Harriet Adams, secretary; Mrs. Jessie Knight, bookkeeper; Miss Audrey Hine, bookkeeper. i
