Dr. Simpson, as Supervising Principal of our schools, has a genuine interest in the expansion of our school facilities and the betterment of the educational program at Mr. Dietz, our principal, makes himself available to all the problems of the students of our schools. His helpfulness and un- derstanding make him a boon to the Whole school. Our s c h o o l secretaries are very often not given credit for the amount of work they do for the students at J.B.J. Yet, We need to remember that the basic means and purposes of modern photo- graphy differ little from the old fashioned kind -a chemical reaction to produce a clear, natural image of the subject. Likewise the basic means and purpose of the modern school differs little from that of the old-a student-teacher reaction to produce a picture of what the individual student really is and needs to be. Sometimes the basic purpose of photo- graphy gets lost in touch-up, tinting, and glamorous frame. So too, there is a tendency for the basic purpose of education to become secondary to extra-curricular activities and striving for non-scholastic prestige. The old fashioned purpose of education has not gone out of style, individual excellence in scholar- ship is still the high road to the future. Mr. Iames B.
