Sandra Raley was chosen to represent I. B. I. in the Maple Queen Contest. Mrs. Haupt was her faculty advisor. The Maple Queen Contest was held at Cochran High School in -lohnstovvn on February 5. All of the candidates met with the judges at an informal tea, Where the girls were judged on the basis of their personality. ln the evening, the girls presented their talent number and modeled. Sandrais talent number was the piano solo, Klntermezzoi, by Brahms. She modeled a light blue evening gown which had a White lace and net over skirt. Wlhen the results Were given, she Was the first runner-up, Winning for herself the title Maple Maid of Honor. The Maple Festival was held in Meyersdale on March 21-23. lim Brant was her escort. While at Meyersdale they attended numerous luncheons, the Coronation ceremony, and the Queen's Ball. 25

Junior Class The Junior Class has taken one more step on the stairway to that longed- for-moment-graduation. The year has been filled with new experiences and interests for each mem- ber of the class. Whether it was knowledge acquired or new friendships gained the year has probably been one of the most memorable in the history of this group of Juniors. In both sports and studies the Juniors have achieved much. They elected these officers to lead the class: Darla Borelle, President, Edgar Robert- son, Vice President, Anita Sheftic, Treasurer, and Madeline Palazzi, Secretary. Their activities included a skating party held at Latrobe, concessions, a dance after a football game, and the sale of magazines, pens, and candy, To top off the school year, the juniors sponsored the beautifully decorated Junior- Senior Prom with Evening in Parisn as the theme. 1st row-B.
