J DR. GUY HARTMAN Supervising Principal The first shown measure of achievement in high school is usually determined by the grades on the report card. This is important. However, if book learning and intellectual achievement become an only measure, then our high school program has failed. Your behavior, your ideals and your group conduct are far more important than mere grade achievement. It is our fondest hope that you may develop a keener sense of discrimination in the everyday habit of honesty, courtesy and beautiful living at its best. By so doing, you will become a loyal citizen in your com- munity, a worthy member of your family and a pillar in your church. To this end you have our best wishes and most earnest devotions. nerstown Borough, met monthly in the school library. This year along with handling all the regular problems that a school of this size has, the wheels were set in motion for the planned addition to make a bigger and better high school. The actual work on this project which will include a new auditorium and new classrooms will begin this summer. We sincerely thank these men and wo- men for the work that they have done to promote our education.

SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME MR. JAMES B. DIETZ Principal From the merriest celebration to the most solemn ceremony, there is appropriate music to inhance the occasion. Through it the individual, alone or as a member of a group, can give expression to his every mood and feeling. It enriches many of the school's activities. It is a language, a pleasure, and a leavening for a satisfactory living. As such it rightfully holds a prominent place in our high school curriculum. All junior high students are enrolled in required music courses. However, a large number elect junior band. In the senior high, approximately two thirds of our students are enrolled in elective vocal and instrumental groups. Such high interest and participation is unusual. It is hoped this interest will continue and that with additional facilities, it can be expanded and more fully satisfied. Our aim is to offer additional music electives that will further aid in disclosing individual ability, provide more opportunities for development of talent, promote a greater love for music and a fuller appreciation of its versatility, and to give stronger emphasis to the joy and satisfaction of cooperative music effort. A special note of thanks goes to Mrs. Leah S. Martin, our school secretary. Mrs. Martin is always on the job in Mr. Dietz's otlice keeping the accounts of all the clubs in order, typing the daily bulletins, or any of the many other jobs that must be done to keep the school office running smoothly.
