The Adult Boosters showed the War- riors their support again last year. They attended meetings with school officials and offered their support for sports and other school activities. The boosters pro- moted full cooperation among the coaches, the school officials, the club members and the students participating in sports. The Adult Boosters also spon- sored many school activities. They could be found in the stands always cheering for HVJ teams. The Booster Club honored the year’s athletes in sports banquets held in the fall, winter, and spring. The club honored the outstanding participants in each school sport with trophies and plaques. GETTING IT TOGETHER This past year, the Jenkins High School PTSA concerned itself mainly with the at- titude of parents and students towards the school. The goal was to inform par- ents about what was going on around the school and to encourage them to volun- teer to help in some areas. By planting Azaleas around the school, the PTSA hoped that students would take more pride in the school's appearance. Also, they conducted a workshop on shoplifting to benefit both students and parents. The 1980-81 PTSA officers were Mrs. Betty Dasher-President. Mr. Bazemore- Vice President, Mrs. Ella Stell-Secretary. and Mr. Ward Powers-Treasure. A “Back-to-Books program was em- phasized at Jenkins Media Center this past school year. The program included an increase in the book collection as well as an increase in circulation. Students and teachers were urged to offer sugges- tions for additions to the present collec- tion. The Media Center also stressed the use of audio-visual materials. HVJ was pleased to welcome Mrs. Edith Brooks to the staff of the media center as the new Head Librarian. The rest of the staff remained the same.
