MEDIA CENTER OFFICE Last year the library had not only numerous books and periodicals but also audio-visual equipment for the use of teachers and students. For the students who were unfamiliar with the facilities, there were two librarians and two clerks to give assistance. Throughout the year many classes, especially the research classes, met in the library for orientation and research studies. During the lunch hour some of the students spent their time reading books, thumbing through magazines, listening to recordings, or viewing film strips. An added bonus for the teachers was the newly established teachers' workroom and lounge located in the library. UPPER: Mr. Powell and Mrs. Adkins decide on materials to be ordered. LEFT: Now, where will find this book? ABOVE: Mrs. Adkins enjoys a quiet moment in her busy day. 20 LIBRARY

FOOD FOR THOUGHT When the 11:30 bell sounded, a large group of people headed for the cafeteria. These people were treated to a choice of three menus for only forty-five cents, including milk. On holidays, special traditional meals were prepared. Turkey and dressing were served at Christmas and Thanksgiving. In honor of Easter, the students were served Easter eggs. The lunchroom staff, headed by Dorothy Kaigler, worked hard to prepare delicious, well-balanced lunches for all the hungry Warriors. This hard work paid off by making the HVJ cafeteria one of the best. UPPER: Students are served a variety of lunches. ABOVE: Students enjoying a typical school lunch. ABOVE RIGHT: A student eagerly receives his lunch. CAFETERIA 19
