'llhe Northwest has its Paul Bunyan. the Southwest has its Pecos Bill. and we of the Sullivan County area have our johnny Caesar Cicero Darling. johnny was one ol many llarlings. hut to hear him tell of it. he was the smartest. quickest, and sharpest ol them all. He really was tool The oldtimers in the Catskills tell many a tale ahout our johnny and indeed he used to tell them ahout himself tone of the virtures which Johnny lacked w as modesty I. There was the time he loaded his gun with a hunting knife and nails. He was out to git a grinnin woodchuck. Witli one shot he not only killed the Mvarminti' but skinned him an nailed the hide to a tree. Another time Johnny jumped half way aero Sand Pond and then, without touching the wate jumped back again. Johnny Darling was the hest uchin jugglern i the state.
