Learning about careers and giving service to the school and community are some goals that these girls have set for themselves. To these ends they have visited a Day Care Center tak- ing hand made stockings filled with candy, and listened to a speaker from the House of james Beauty Salon. During Teacher Appreciation Week they plan to serve refreshments to the teachers. In keeping with the Bicen- tennial celebration, they have undertaken the project of making a patch- work quilt. 4 It is quite evident that this is an organization which would have purpose and meaning for anyone interested in being a member. 155

The Ecology Club was founded during the 1973-74 school year with the joint purposes of improving the environment and teaching others about ecology. With these aims in mind, the Ecology Club has sponsored several projects to benefit our community, including a paper drive and ri car emis- sion clinic. The club's main project for the 1975-76 school year was designed to ben- efitftown students as well as the environment. The club sponsored an alu- minum drive contest in which the class collecting the most aluminum would receive 2596 of the profits made from the sale of the aluminum. The Ecology Club's share of the profits was used to finance nature study trips and other environmental projects. The Hurstboume Kiwanis Club works with the Key Club in sponsoring their service activities. These fine young men have worked on various school and community collections, and they have assisted in the annual Sci- ence Fair here atftown. li-. l I-.1-L il-1, Pres. - Phillip Robinson, V.
