I UN IOR PROPHECY While on business in Chicago, in 1960, I registered at the luxurious Patwell Hotel. While browsing through the library, I came upon a book entitled Patwell History. To my amazement, I found that the owners were none other than Bill Patterson and Eugene Wellman, That evening before retiring, I managed to have a chat with them and was informed that Bryce Christy was also making his home in Chicago. The next morning I decided to pay him a short visit before leaving for my home again in Oak- land, California. I was greeted at the door by an attractive young lady whom I supposed was his wife but soon learned that he was still single and she was only his secretary. Little did I realize that my trip home would be so interesting. When I stopped at a filling station in the outskirts of Omaha, Nebraska. I was amazed to see Carl Spangler standing in the doorway. He serviced my car and also invited me in for a friendly chat with his wife, the former Miss Colleen Kelly. She told me that Martha Bailey and Emma Jean Switzer were co-owners of a ritzy dress shop, THE MARJEANH in New York City. Having spent more time than I expected there, it was soon time to stop for lunch. I decided to stop at the Belleview Cafe, and was pleased to meet the owner, Marion DeBolt. I complimented him on the delicious food and he told me it had been prepared by his finacee, Miriam Weaver. While driving through Denver Colorado, I saw the magnificent Evan- gelical United Brethren Church. It was my luck to be passing just as Melvin and Melody were coming out the door. It was obvious that the knot had just been tied. They were both smiling and looked even hap- pier than I had remembered them in my school days. As I was watching television in the home of one of my relatives, where I was staying for the week-end, I was surprised to see the familiar face of Emma Lou Morningstar appear on the screen. She was going to sing her latest hit tune, 'tWin My Heart and You've Got My Mother, Too. As I continued my journey homeward and was driving through Salt Lake City, Utah, I suddenly had to apply my brakes to keep from hitting a jaywalker, whom I immediately recognized as Alice Myers. No cars being near, I stopped and talked with her for a few minutes. She told me that she was now a star in motion pictures. I noticed that she mentioned the name Wayne quite often so I asked her who he was and she told me that it was Wayne Gerber and that he was to star with her in her next picture. Fifteen
