's Hunting Writing letters Dancing Blondes Senior Class History 'Way back in August of '56 thirty-one tired but trying freshmen entered the assembly of jefferson High and took their seats, only to be sent to the northwest room for instruct- ions. Those poor souls were: Belva Adkins, Dennis Allman, Virginia Baker, Wavalyn Brower, Karen Correll. Anita Cover, Becky Cover, Linda Cover, Donna DeWald, Mary Dice, Linda Dunnuck, Linda Fouts, Bob Hartman, Ioe Hoagland, Dave Leffel, Ian Martin, Charles McDougle, Karen McGuire, jack McHenry, Larry McLean, Moira Mensing, Ianet Musselman, Miriam Shambarger, Lois Shelley, Lowell Snyder, Connie Tharp, Leonard Webb, Iim Wright, Roland Wilburn, Sondra Wray, and Violet Wellsand. Donna Glassburn and Guy Mathis joined us during the year. Guy left us later in the year, as did Sondra Wray. We were the last class to be initiated and the sophomores did a rousing good job on us . We had two class parties during our freshman year, one at Moira's where we lost Abe Ogle's horse shoes, and the other at the Roxy theatre where we saw To Hell and Back, with our sponsor, Mr. Miller. The freezing biology room was the low point of our first year. As sophomores we lost Karen Correll, Bob Hartman, Larry McLean and Donna Classburn. We acquired Iudy Brooks and Arden Cruea, but she left us after the first semester. Guy Mathis came back again because he couldn't resist our charms. Under the supervision of Bob McDonald, our sponsor, we had our first class party at the Denver Community Building. Our second party was a picnic in the Frances Slocum State Park. During our second year one tragic mishap occurred. Ian Martin kicked jack McHenry's hand and broke it, so that jack was unable to play basketball for the first part of the season. There was no initiation officially, but we made up for that. In our junior year Lowell Snyder and Dennis Allman left our class, but we gained Bill Berkheiser. Our only class party was held at Moira Mensing's. We learned the art of salesmanship while selling refreshments at basketball games. We also got to show off our rings and sweaters while strutting around the gym. We had lots of fun giving our class play, Three Misses and a Myth. Miss Fisher was our director. We had a party at Moira's after the final presentation. We were hosts and hostesses to the seniors at Honeywell Memorial Center in Wabash for the junior-Senior Reception. Our theme was The Magic of May. Then, all of a sudden, we were seniors. In this , our last year, we lost Virginia Baker, Anita Cover, Linda Dunnuck, Donna DeWald and Violet Wellsand. Toe Hartleroad and jerry May were added to our class. We sold magazine subscriptions, Stanley products, annual advertising, Bulldog stickers, annuals, and anything else we could get our hands on. We had the concess- ions at the ball games during the last semester. A very successful Halloween carnival netted us a neat sum. We printed the school paper, The Bulldog Bark, and collected items for the annual. We also held a steak supper. Our class play was Rest Assured, and we rest assured that everyone enjoyed it. The senior trip to New York and Washington, D.C. , during the week before Easter proved both enjoyable and educational. Blue and silver were chosen our class colors. Our flowers were red and white roses. Our Motto: Deeds not dreams. Baccalaureate was held May 15 and Commencement, May l6. We finally made it! Class Will We, the Graduating Class of I9 60 , being of feeble mind and weary body, do make and ordain this to be our last will and testament in connection with the Iefferson Town- ship High School of Mexico, Indiana. Class Prophecy Yes Sir, said the patriarch Charlie fMcDouglel, I shall be glad to guide these neophites around your Kingdom to see the rest of the class of '60 . Come Mr. 61 Mrs. Ierry May. fMrs. May was the former Connie Tharpl. This is the cloud of Bill and Sue fljoutsj Berkheiser. He shot himself while hunting rabbits. After thirteen children, you know why she's here. Watch out! Whew, that was close. There went Ian Martin on his bicycle. He has been arrested eleven times by our cop, Ioe Hartleroad, and unless he changes his ways, he won't be with us long. Ioe was chosen to police the golden streets because of his safe driving on earth. Here's where Iim and Iudy fBrooksJ Wright live. They were skating stars before coming here. Who says you can't get to heaven on roller skates? Hear the Music ? The choir is rehearsing under the direction of Wavalyn fBrowerJ. She has to be watched closely, because every now and then she gets a wild beat going. Belva fllldkinsl still grumbles about filing the choir's music . Here comes Ioe and Miriam fShambargerJ Hoagland. They were elected couple of the year up here in heaven. He is a basketball star and she is a cheerleader. It was All-Heaven. Here comes Guy CMathisl. He came to us after starving to death. It was just too messy to eat through his three foot moustache. As they approach the Golden Gate, Charlie, what's that awful noise? That's Ianet CMusselmanJ with Matilda. They still refuse to let her in with that junk-heap, and she refuses to come in without it, so there she sits . Ierry, look at these carvings. Don't they look familiar? Yes, Iack always wrote IACKIE all over everything, but when he carved it on the Golden Gates, that was too much. He's not with us any- more. It's nearly night. There goes Mary CDicel. The Sir lets her put the stars out and bring them in, because she's the only one that's up at those hours . But Charlie, aren't some of the Class of '60 missing? Yes, some were quite unfortunate. Let's get on the elevator. Going down, please. You'll note that the operator is Roland fWilburnl. , They couldn't decide where he was to go due to his red car, so they compromised. Here we are. Hi Dave CLeffelJ. He's the official greeter. He played the part so well in our class play, that they decided they must have him. There is his sidekick, Leonard fWebbl with him. Here comes Linda fCoverJ riding a donkey. She finally got to go to the place she so often spoke of. The person riding double with her is Karen fMcGuirel. Karen had been elsewhere, but she got a transfer because she just couldn't stand being away from Cover and Kindig. It's evening so we best be getting up. Say, we almost missed two of our class. There goes Moira CMensingJ and Becky QCoverJ. Down here they are known as the Red Tails in the Sunset. But Charlie, we haven't seen Lois fShelleyb yet. Where is she? We're not sure. Right now she's out on an angelic mission to round up souls in Formosa. There is a lot of competition in this field, you know. Well, here we are. Thank you for guiding us around, Charlie, It s late, so we must fly home to our cloud. Good-bye, Charlie. -W. M 593222, A, -1 ' . :givea- 3 J 2-1, 'Hx ,nam-. 1 ,..
